Hey NNers

Every about 15 minutes my monitor pops(audibly) and flickers(visually). It doesn't render the montor useless but it can scare the crap out of me when concentrating on work. It's very annoying as well.

Has anybody seen this sort of behavior before?
Any suggestions before I take it in? (Already zapped the PRAM)

Thanks
Chuck

That doesn't sound good.

Does your computer do the same thing with other monitors?

Well, it's not unlikely that the monitor is dying. Some monitors die fast, some last for ages. It's all in the particular CRT's build quality.

I wouldn't use an unstable monitor, as sometime or another, it's going to go, and when it does, you'll have an... "electrifying"... experience.

Try the monitor on another outlet. If that works, well, that works. It might be something with the power going into it.

Just got off the phone with Lacie tech support. They say this is nomal behavior. So I'm a little pissed. But I thought everyone should know. It's been very hot here lately. Maybe things will return to normal when it cools down. I'll let you know if I can still find this thred. In the mean time. You have been warned.

Sounds like normal behavior for a monitor that is about to die. If I were you, I'd send it in asap - especially if the warranty is anywhere near being up.

I've got the 22blue, never seen anything like that.
Call LaCIe back. Maybe you just got a bonehead the first time.

I think you find they have a three year warrantee so dont be too fussed
sounds like it is trying to deguass itself.
have you tried doing that a few times in the monitor controls?

First off you guys rule!

aaanorton - I took your advice and called lacie back. You were right, I got a bonehead the first time.

Aussie John - Although degaussing is an issue with these monitors, that is not my problem. But bravo on the diagnosis.

So here's the resolution. Lacie does have a three year warrantee on these monitors(yahoo). All I have to do is pay a one way shipping charge across the country. Not bad I guess.

I have one of those monitors too and am generally happy with it.
but I find keeping straight vertical lines difficult (if not impossible) there always seems to be a wobble somewhere in the vertical image and sometimes more often than less

Also Is there a best way (ie order) to use the alignment controls and also i was told extending the image to eliminate the black surround is bad for the monitor (apple tech)- Is that true?
