Hello all --

Is anyone using one of the new Lacie firewire 16/10/40 Cd burners? They recently changed the case, and I am wondering if it has been improved over the previous version which was said to be LOUD and the Firewire and USB controller unstable?

The advantage of the lacie is that it is dual voltage 110/220 for use in europe where I am currently.... and the fact that it has a USB so that my wife can burn CDs on her (gasp) Thinkpad..... other than that I am considering the Formac.

So, does anybody know if they have improved the Lacie drives.... particularly the noise issue? Also are they using the new 2nd generation firewire oxford-type bridge?

Thanks for any advice out there.

Gar

see the macworld review of a number of drives
I had an earlier 8x La Cie which was loud and a had a faulty bridge- got my money back and bought a 16x ezquest.
I believe the firewire bridge issue was resolved but dont know about the fan
ezyquest seems good so far
