For anyone who's used one of these, is this DV bridge capable of video and audio output as well? It doesn't seem to mention it on the website for the unit.
Anyone know about this?
thanks

It has S-video, composite video, L&R audio(RCA plugs) in and out and 2 firewire ports. It will pass video and sound thru while allowing you to record it into iMovie, FCP, etc.

I prefer the Sony DVMC-2, unless you need to do PAL video. The dazzle sometimes had to have video playing through it when you started up your computer so that it would set itself to NTSC. I occasionally got about 5% percent of the top of my image to show up on the bottom of the screen (Adobe Premiere bug?).

I'm under the impression that the Sony DV bridge units support (that is, enforce) Copyright protection (such as Macrovision.) Although I'm not planning on doing any law breaking, I don't like copyright protection schemes..
Im looking to spend as little money as possible. I was looking at the ForMac Studio, but I just don't have that kind of cash to throw around at the moment. Otherwise, it looks really awesome.

I'm not 100% sure because I have the Sony DVMC-2, but I think the DVMC-1 doesn't include the copy protection. Not sure, but you'll probably have to find one on eBay.

okay.. So it's got in and out plugs for all that stuff. Where are they? There are (I think) 4 on the front, I haven't seen the back. Are the other plugs there, or do you have to manually switch them??
thanks again

They are on the back, but you have to unplug what you are not using. It may work, but I read somewhere that you had to disconnect. It has two firewire ports. One for in, one for out. Another reason I like the Sony, it has one fire wire port and a manual switch.

Mark N. - Firewire is I/O simultaneously so you have 2 firewire ports and as for the video and sound ports yes you do have to unplug the S-video input/or output if you want to use the composite video input/or output.
