I need to find out the signal pin out on an Apple Multiscan 1705 [17"] and a Multiscan 15AV [15" with integrated audio].

I am trying to connect an 8600 and a Beige G3 to either of these monitors through a passive Video/Keyboard switch box.

Problem is that while all the components work the Multiscan monitors are missing pins 3 and 8 [that is how they are made]. However, the signal necessary to tell the monitor it is attached to a Mac is getting lost in the switch box - assuming it is getting sent to one of the missing pins.

So while both monitors work when plugged into Macs, they both fail when run though the switch box. And the switch box works when other Apple monitors [AduioVision 14" works fine] are plugged in which have all 15 pins.

My idea is to remap the pins using DB-15 to VGA adapters since the 17" Multiscan has VGA out on it so by using a staight VGA cable and a 10 dip switch adapter I should be able to remap the signals as needed.

Anyone know the pin mapping?

Or

Have any better solutions that do not include buying a new switch box?

I recently hooked a 17" Sun monitor to my powermac which went from a 13w3 connector converted to regular vga and then converted to the aplle monitor connector on the mac.

After quite a lot of searching I founf this useful for adjusting dip switches on the vga to mac video adapter:

Hope this is of some help. Good luck!
