i want to buy another video card for my g4 400 agp. eventually i will drive a 17 inch apple lcd with dr. bot but until then i want to use it with a view sonic19" that i will buy at the same time. ( i currently own one now)

my question is:

it seems like i read someone that ATI and nVIDEA are coming out with cheaper cards around $130 US.

any one know if these are ok for my system?
I use OSX full time (dual desktop support) and do not play games. I run at 1600/1200 full time and I will be purchasing lightwave 3d by jan.(moving 3D models around)

I might buy a quicksilver g4 by then and would want to move the card to the new system. i am concerned about getting a good card that has good drivers for OSX

thanks for any suggestions.

n'vidia's drivers suck, for now. Radeon 8500 will have OSX drivers with better quality, but n'vidia might catch up. go with the card with the best drivers, image quality, multimedia, and non-obsolete speeds etc.

n'vidia is for gamers. 3d rendering is currently bad with the geforce3 drivers. future cards may speed up aqua too.

wait to see n'vidia's response to ati stepping up mac efforts
