So, I just purchased a HP Deskjet 6980 with wireless printing! I can get it to print if it is connected to the router with an ethernet cable. This is how it looks like:
wireless MacBook --> router <-- printer (connected with ethernet cable).
This set up works fine.
Here's the problem, once I unplug the ethernet cable, it connects wirelessly to my router, exactly what it should do. So now it looks something like this:
wireless MacBook --> router <-- wireless printer
However, this set up doesn't work!
When I try to print a document, I get "Processing Job" with the status bar never moving.
I'm using a Belkin 54g router.
I just want some input on how to fix this.

Did you properly configure the wireless settings by connecting the printer directly to your computer via ethernet cable? You have to do that first. Also, you have to install the HP 6900 drivers, as the printer is newer than Mac OS X 10.4, and it didn't have the drivers installed.

Yes, I configured the network settings in the printer, I'm able to see the printer as a client on my router. Also, I've installed the newest drivers from the HP site.
I just found out something:
If I turn OFF security in the router, everthing works wirelessly.
If I connect my MacBook to the router via ethernet cable and the printer is wireless, with security ON, everything works.
If I connect the printer via ethernet cable, and the MacBook with airport, with security ON, everything works.
As before, the only scenario that doesn't work is wireless printer + wireless MacBook + security ON.
BTW I'm using 10.4.8 with all updates and the model of my router is F5D7230-4 6000.
I called HP tech support yesterday, they were no help. At the end, the guy said I need to forward ports for the printer. But he didn't know which one to forward.

Well, I use my with the Airport BS, so it may just be your router. What exactly are these security options (firewall, encryption, etc) that you're turning on and off? Maybe we can narrow it down so that you can have a secure network while still being able to print wirelessly.

My security is set to WPA2-PSK AES. I have disabled firewall and MAC address filtering for the time being.
