Greetings.

New to the boards, so any help or tips are welcome.

I own a PowerMac G4 500 DP (Gigabit Ethernet) set-up and recently ordered 2 512MB (133) chips to add to my current 512MB installed memory (2- 256 DIMMs (100). - To max out at the 1.5GB limit.

I seem to be running into a problem with all DIMM's installed - maxing out my installed memory limit (1.5GB). After installing the additonal 2-512 DIMM's, I reset PRAM and everything appeared normal as Mac OS 9.1 booted up, but when I go to check the Apple menu (About this computer/or try to open a folder to view contents - A Finder error (The finder needs your attention - The finder has unexpectedly quit) occurs.
If I try and open a folder again, the whole system will lock up.

It appears that when I max out at 1.5GB of memory this always happens. If I remove just one DIMM (256 or 512) the Finder behaves normally. I am currently at 1.25 GB, however I would like to use the remaining 256 DIMM. So any help on what I may be missing/doing wrong would be helpful.

Also, all RAM appears to be good (by swapping moving RAM around/testing) and all RAM slots appear to be functioning correctly.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Additional Information -

1. The new DIMM's were purchased from OWC and meet/exceed Apple's JEDEC specs.

* PC133 Synchronous DRAM
* CAS-3 rated refresh
* 32x8 based memory devices
* 3.3 Volt
* 168 Pin
* 1.15" Low Profile

2. The existing 256 DIMM's (both from Apple) have no problems with either/both 512 DIMM from OWC when swapping RAM around.

3. At one point I had 1.5GB working in the G4. I just can't remember exactly what was done (in sequence to achieve this)

So, I'm not sure if there is something else I missed.
