Hello-
Until recently, my Toshiba PDR-M4 digital camera could upload its digital images to my G4 Mac via USB without difficulty. But now, I'm told my SmartMedia card is unreadable (and do I want to initialize it?). The card works quite well when I upload files to my laptop (using a PC card smartmedia adapter), so I know it's not the card's fault.

I haven't altered the Toshiba drivers that I installed long ago, and I still get the same problem after RE-installing the drivers.

Recently, I have :
1) upgraded my Palm hotsync software (2.6.3)
2) bought a new Epson Stylus 880 printer & installed its drivers
3) installed Toast 5.0 Titanium

Does anybody know of specific conflicts with these updates/installations above? Or any other reason why my camera won't talk to my Mac? Thanks!

I can't comment on any specific conflicts, but your best bet might be to disable some of the extensions associated with the new software and try it again. If it works with them off, you've narrowed it down. Then turn the extensions back on one at a time to find the specific culprit.

Hey again-
Although I thought it would be an extension conflict at fault, it ended up being something entirely different. Somehow, my "File Exchange" control panel had become disabled. Enabling it made everything work again. Of course, I discovered this after a good 2 hours of trouble-shooting & extension set maneuvering. Ughh!
