Does anyone know of a stereo reciever (or similar product) such as the Rio reciever, that is compatible with the Mac? I need to replace my stereo reciever soon and would like something (like the Rio or a bose PC wave) that can interface with my Mac and play my mp3's in another room etc.

Does anyone know why Rio would support the Mac with personal MP3 players and not with their car or home systems? Are they just trying to be a serious pain the ---?

Thanks,

fishguy

It's not a stereo receiver, but you might want to look into some of the products listed in this article. Each device lets your wirelessly play your MP3s from your computer (and it can be used to transmit images and sound from you DVD player to a secondary TV) to your stereo.

Don't have any personal experience with them yet. Can't convice the GF that it's "necessary" yet.

x10 (http://www.x10.com?/homepage.htm) has some devices that let you transmit audio and viceo signals wirelessly throughout your house. I bought the DVD Anywhere only for the audio capability, but it can also trasmit video and it came with a mouse-like rf receiver so that I could control DVD or MP3 players on a computer (if I wanted to). I have only tried the audio transmit capability, which is great. And at only $69.99 it's the cheapest way to go wireless.

They also have an MP3 Anywhere product for $79.99, but I haven't been able to figure out what it does that the DVD Anywhere doesn't.

As soon as I posted my previous reply, it hit me that the x10 stuff is PC-Compatible, not Mac. I kind of got hung up on the wireless capability and since I had no desire to control my computer with it, I kind of blew off the computer capabilities.
