i think i'd avoid this camera like a small plague if i were you... ok, so it's not THAT bad but for what it costs, i think it's WAY over the top...

i'm ASSUMING that you can do either platform with it because Sony's Mac suppport is pretty nifty thus far, but I think the official party line is that you arent supposed to use mini CD's in slot-loading iMacs...

the camera isnt that speedy because it hasta record each image to the CD, and although you can do multi-sessions of sorts, you cant put the disc in your computer until it's written-out...which takes time, battery life, etc...

look at one of the 4 megapixel or so Cybershots that use Mammary Sticks and a USB interface...or other brands that use Compact Flash cards...more bang for the buck in my opinion, AND ease of use...

thanks for your input. I have the Sony DSC-F505, and find it a supurb camera with two drawbacks: it does not have an infared remote to take
tripod pictures ( the CD models do not either) and the Memory Sticks are VERY expensive for the buck. thats why Id like to hear about the newer CD cameras/

;you go on a trip and take a bunch of CD-RW seem the way to go. this camera has a buffer so you can take a second picture fairly quickly.

My G3 has a spqace for the 3" CD's. and the camera comes with an adapter to put the 3" cds in to read in a slot loader llike the iMacs.

but has anyone done this>

thanks for your help rotut
