I have a HP 4MV on eithernet (LAN)

how can I assign an IP address? do I need an utility?

I also have a HP 6P conected to my NT server via serial conection... can I access that if it has an IP address and how do I asign it?

The front panel of the printer should let you set the IP address. Also you can download HP's JetAdmin software to configure, but I believe it has to already have an address.

Your NT server can share printers with a Mac, if you turn on Services for Macintosh.

JetAdmin will see the 4MV even before it has an IP address, because the JetDirect has a hardware address and can talk HP's protocol right out of the box. The 6P *cannot* be assigned an IP address in it's present configuration because it is not network capable. As drewman pointed out, though, you can run Services for Macintosh and see the printer via AppleTalk...
