I've got a Sawtooth with a 21" CRT Apple Studio display hooked up to it. It was recently going through a Microconversions Voodoo 2 and the Rage 128 card it came with. I just added an AppleVision 17" display on an ATI Rage 128 VR. I noticed that the smaller/older monitor appeared to be much sharper and brighter than my 21". Then I realized that there was a yellow spot and an overall shadow cast over my 21" monitor. The lower right hand corner of the 21" (closest one to the 17") has started getting a nice yellow tint. The effect spreads almost to the middle of the monitor, taking up the whole corner. I moved the other monitor farther away, and still nothing. I turned it off, and nothing. Please help, as I'd really like to use both, but at the very least have my 21" back to the way it was before all this.

I seem to have made a little progress. I removed the 17" completely, thinking it could be crossed video signals or interference from the other monitor, or something... I really have no clue. I managed to partially alleviate the problem with the beam landing setting in the Displays pref. Now I still have a yellowish hue on the lower center part of my screen and the lower right corner is still a bit dim. I went over the beam landing/convergence settings a bit and they said I may have to adjust this stuff if I move the monitor. I just moved the monitor from the right side of my desk to the left. The right side is closest to the window, so it would get the most sunlight on the lower right corner. Could my monitor just have been adjusting itself? I seem to remember something about this monitor doing that, recalibrating automatically to keep color consistent. This is killing me!

thats an expensive display. take it back to the dealer. phone apple. If the warranty voided, call apple and complain about thier "graphics designer" quality monitors, and how it was a preexisting problem.
