I just received and set up my brandnew Yamaha CRW2100. The drive ships with a disk containing Adobe PhotoDeluxe (Business Edition). Unfortunately, it's Windows only. Does a Mac version of this software exist and did I just get the wrong disk or is this something Yamaha provides for Windows folks only? In the latter case, can anyone point me into the direction of good and reasonably inexpensive (if not free) photoediting software for the Mac? I'm new to this and don't have a good feel for where to start looking.

Thanks,
Euro

I think Yamaha only provides that for Windows.

I'm not sure, but I'd say there is a Mac version of this... if not, you can get PhotoShop Elements (replaces PhotoShop LE) which is a limited version of PhotoShop, but from what I hear, its not too bad.

Give it a go.

There is a Mac version (at this point it is version 2.x) for Adobe PhotoDeluxe. It's actually quite capable for basic photo editing. It will set you back about $50.00 (U.S.).

I also hear rave reviews about Graphic Converter, which is a shareware program. But I personally have no experience with it. It goes for $35.00 (U.S.).

Grahpic Converter is great.
I mean... dunno how good for actual image editing, I never used it for that, but for converting images, I still use it over PhotoShop sometimes due to the sheer number of supported formats... Its really good.

But, I don't think it'll suit your purposes...

Thanks for the input folks! I contacted Yanaha customer service and asked if they were willing to exchange the PC disc they included for a Mac version (the Adobe PhotoDeluxe 2.0). They said: No problem - we'll drop it in the mail today! How's THAT for a cool company? I think I already made back the 50 bucks that the CDR2100 cost more than some of the other drives... and I haven't burnt a single CD yet!

Silly wabbit: Whether Adobe PhotoDeluxe "sux" as you say depends on what you want to do with it. Most people don't really need PhotoShop or other $600 or $700 programs unless they're doing high-end, four-color work.

And was that response really supposed to help euro or just make you feel superior in some small way?

Hey gutless unregistered Oh Puhleeze..., it was meant as a fact. Adobe PhotoDeluxe sucks big time. There are a multitude of inexpensive image editors available that run circles around that piece of sh!t Adobe PD. And where did I mention $600 or $700 programs in my post, HUH?? You like to make comments, and hide behind that unregistered Face?? I personally don't give a rat's @ss what euro uses. And you seem to think you can judge me by one post? You don't know me from jack So take a hike, and one day, when you feel man enough, (or women enough in your case) to post with a registered name, (which I doubt), then we'll see what you have to say. Until then, Stuffit
