is it worth getting an 20 gig ipod if my powerbook is only 20 gigs and only has 8 gigs free on it with 5 gigs of mp3s. I have a MP3 jukebox server that has 60 gigs worth of mp3s but can I synch it to a Itune playlist that has files stored from a mp3 server? For the time being, I use Itunes for my local mp3s and Audion to play files from my remote server because playlist management is easier to deal with.
I mean, how does one fill up an ipod when the host computer has less storage than the device. I ask because I know that the ipod has copy protection that locks it to a specific machine (regardless of the hacks/shareware/utils).

You have to ask yourself if you could use the 20GB for other things too - backup device for your powerbook say. Storing addresses, calendars, notes, to do tasks with reminders, that sort of thing.

i would go for it, well for starters i have the 10gig model (not the new one mind you) and i pretty much have it maxed out with 1100mp3(ripped at 320), diskwarrior, and os9(that i can boot into). after all that ive got only 7megs left. so as you can see the ipod has so many uses that the 20gig would make it even more versatile.

Although the 10GB model is pretty cool - and is actually slimmer, even though only by a very small amount.
