Does it matter what order I have my RAM chips installed? For example, I have 2 128MB and 1 256MB chips. When I look at the Apple System Profiler it shows memory slots DIMM0 (128MB), DIMM1 (128MB), and DIMM2 (256MB). Will I get better performance with the 256MB RAM in the first slot (DIMM0)? Just looking for any way to boost performance, plus I'm bored. Thanks!

The best thing is to place your 256MB in the first slot, since I'm assuming they all have the same speed. You'll get better memory flow and management that way, although I'm pretty sure you won't notice the speed difference at all. We're talking about fractions of seconds. I hope this was helpful, though

Nope. Not true. (Unless you have an ancient machine, then ignore the below. Maybe)
Assuming you have at least a B&W G3, your machine will accept any valid DIMM in any slot with absolutely no difference in performance. It's all done with smoke, mirrors, magic and address masking driven by the DIMMs report to the motherboard of what size it is.

It did matter in 604 computers.
