I am looking into buying and older powerbook for e-mail and word processing. I would also like to be able to network it with my iMac. I was wondering which model you would recommend as I am not very familiar with the older model Powerbooks. I am looking in $0-$1000 range.

I have a 540c in good shape which has ethernet, I think 20 meg of RAM (I'll check if you're interested). It's a good choice in that it was top of the line when built. Active color LCD, internal modem, internal floppy, etc. People like these units.

I'll sell it cheap. $450?

Couple questions: How much RAM? 320 or 500MB hard drive? Modem speed? What software does it come with? Do you have all cords, and batteries? Has the processor been upgraded or is it still stock?

Thx,
Dave

The PB 500-series is particularly cool if you can find a PPC CPU daughtercard to pop into it. Otherwise you're ceiling is OS 8.1 and you're unable to run PPC-only apps (e.g. Office 98).
