Hi
I am using Retrospect 5 (updated to 0203) to try to backup my OSX partition to CDRs. The external device i use is the QPS QUE! 8x4x32 FireWire CD-RW.
Everything seems fine, Retrospect detects the external writer, i can define my backup folders, but... when it starts burning, an error message just pops-up, stating there is an "error with the selected device".
I'm sorry not to be able to quote the full error text, but the fact is that the CDR is somehow damaged, and i don't want to damage a new one just to tell you exactly what Retrospect states. Unless i really have to!
The fact is i can't find any kind of reference to which CD-RWs Retrospect Express 5 actually supports. As i said, mine is detected, and the backup starts as usual. But in the next 10 sec, the error gets in. So it looks to me there's a conflict between Retrospect and QUE firewire writers.
My question is: have you got any ... well... backup on this kind of error, and how should i try to solve it?

PS. I didn't contact Dantz yet directly, as i leave in France and actually they have no local support line i know of.

Thanks
Victor

Can you burn cd´s with the QPS 8X4X32 in Mac OS X?, it is not posible for me with Toast 5.1.3 and Mac OS X 10.1.4, surprisely I can erase the cd-rw, but I can not copy anything to the cd-rw. The QPS is OK, it works just fine in Mac OS 9.1

Could you try to toast something in Mac OS X, please ?

I have the EXACT same problem with Retrospect using an EZQuest Boa 16 x 10 x 40 FireWire external CDRW. I thought the upgrade to version 5 would solve this problem... WRONG! They claim to support my drive, but I get the same results as you... CDR's get trashed. Toast however, works just fine with it. If anyone knows how to allieviate this problem, please respond!
