You should be able to find out from their web site. I don't know about the QL-500, but I know that some of them work. I have the PT-9500 that I use with OS X.
Don't know about brother, their site is terrible to look for any info, but I have a DYMO LabelWriter 400 that works great with Mac OS X, besides that aesthetically speaking is way nicer than brother's model.

The driver and label editor are available on both OSX 10.1-10.3.1. and 10.2-10.4.x. Brother: QL-500: Downloads: United States If you're wary about hyperlinking over just go to Welcome to Global Brother and do a site specific search for ql500 and trace through the support/download site.
