first off, i know this probably isnt the best place to post this, but i chouldnt decide if it was OS X general Discussion, Periferals, or applications.

i just got a bruner today. its a 4x USB burner. it was on a PC for a long time. i just hooked it up to my mac, and disc burner runs beautifully on it.(BTW, the owner no longer needed it, cuz i persuaded her on getting a new ibook with a combo drive ) but itunes wont recognize it here is what it says in the apple system profiler

OnSpec Electronic, Inc. (CDRW-4424)
Apple disc burning:Supported
Product ID: 4660 ($1234): USB Atapi
Vendor: OnSpec Electronic Inc. <WPI>
Driver version: Not available
Driver name: Not available
Power (mA): 500 ($1f4)
Release number: 80.0<T2.0>
Serial number: 4E8230B382
so if its supported, how come itunes wont work with it?
thanks

Hi ibabo. For the sheer economy of it, Apple has chosen to support the most popular drives so that something like 90 percent of all CD burners will work. That leaves a lot of them that don't work and never will (though that's up to Apple).

My advise is to get Toast no matter what. It's just better software all the way around.
