Has anyone else got one of these ? I have, and I'm really not sure what to make of it....
I thought I was buying a state of the art mouse. Hmm. Sure, it tracks well - although I don't know why it's only Apple that seems to realise you should put the sensor under the finger tips, and not off to one side....
The problem is with the driver software. Apart from being buggy, and a fiddle to configure, it's actually pretty limiting. For instance, this mouse has a second thumb wheel (more of a rocker switch really), but the only things you can assign to it are application switcher (which is basically typing Command-Tab really, REALLY slowly), or Zoom - which I suppose might come in useful in Photoshop, but that's about it.
Oh, and he headline feature - the free wheeling scroll wheel is just strange. No matter how I configure it, it either doesn't have enough sensitivity, or it has too much, or requires too much of a 'flick' to freewheel.
I'm considering taking it back and swapping it for a Bluetooth Mighty Mouse. Any thoughts ?

I have a VX, and I love it. Sure, it's cumbersome to switch the scrolling mode, but it's so much more comfortable than the Mighty Mouse, which I had been using prior. I do wish I could assign Expose to the zoom switch and the Spotlight button, but otherwise, I have no gripes about the mouse.

butterfly0fdoom, what application/mouse drivers are you using for the mouse? Firstly, do not install Logitech Control Center, since it does not work, crashes and is a pain to use. I used to use USB Overdrive, which is probably the best mouse driver out there, but it didn't recognise the search/spotlight button. Instead, I'm using SteerMouse and that does recognise the button, and works marvellously. The interface isn't as nice as USB Overdrive, but it does the job, and after the initial configuration, that's what counts most.
As for Gee4orce, try either USB Overdrive or SteerMouse and assigning those buttons to other uses. Being able to use Expose on a mouse greatly enhances the use of the feature, and you'll never reach for F9 ever again. Also, the two applications allow you to assign application specific settings. So the tilt left and right might be next and previous tab for my Safari, but next and previous song in iTunes. Of course, this takes time but is worth the effort.
Hope that helps with your mouse problems.
I love my VX Revolution. Not quite as good as my previous MX, the battery of which is nearly dead, but the use of battery cells, a smaller receiver made me attempt the purchase. It's also far more portable, making it a good partner for my MacBook Pro.

I'm using Logitech's software, and it works great. But I'm not about to download a bunch of other drivers, since the Mac mini I'm using is to hold me over until I get a MacBook (waiting until Leopard comes out, since I'm not in a rush to get one, anyways) and isn't exactly mine.

I also have a Revolution VX which I like very much. My hands aren't that big, so the larger Logitech and Microsoft mice can be a bit uncomfortable. This one fits pretty well (could be perhaps just a few mm larger, but it is a "notebook" mouse after all). The free floating wheel is easy to configure with USB Overdrive (I gave up on Logitech's Mac software, though the Windows driver is pretty good).
And the wheel doesn't get clogged once every couple of weeks like my Mighty Mouse did.
