I want to buy more RAM for my new iBook, but the prices start @ $73 and jump to $150 and over. Why is that? Is there any quality factor or what?

Depends a lot on when the vendor bought the RAM themselves and also the quality. Also on how diligent their customers are about shopping around. Some outfits know they get a large percentage of stooges so they take 'em for a ride. Others depend on volume for profit so they try to balance quality and price to their advantage and that balance swings all over the place depending on how reputable the vendor is.

So what about MemoryToGo.com? They have the lowest prices, is a good way to go? What about Ramjet? They're expensive.

Check out ramseeker.com's customer rating - people who have bought RAM from different companies are able to rate their experiences.

I have always done business with Other World Computing for RAM and starage devices. My experiences with them have been outstanding!!!!!!!!

Personally, I would recommend crucial.com or crucial.com/uk for memory. They might be a little more expensive, but the service is OUTSTANDING, and the quality of memory is also fantastic. Got through Apple's recent round of firmware updates with no problems.

I ordered my RAM on Saturday, and it had arrived by Monday, 10am.

Just don't buy your RAM from Apple. OUCH! It may be high quality, and pass their firmware updates, but you can get good RAM from other places as well.
