I recently purchased an APC Back-UPS Pro 500 for use with my iMac, due to power issues occurring in California.
I've found the software has an annoying problem. For some reason when I'm using my mac I repeatedly experience an error message coming up saying that my computer has "lost communication with the APC". The error seemingly will pop up and disappear a few seconds later, numerous times while using my computer. Some times the error will come up and stay up, at which time I find I either need to reboot or disconnect & reconnect the USB cable to have it re-detected.
I've done conflict testing and believe its not a software conflict causing the problem.
I'm posting this more as a warning to anybody considering getting one. I'm going to disable the shutdown manager, which pretty much makes the Mac compatibility feature useless. I likely could have purchased a much cheaper UPS without Mac compatibility...
