Hi, I was think to buy a back up drive.
It will be use to back up some 3D file, photo and text document.
I want to buy something that accomodate reasonable speed and reliability.
And I had came to a conclusion that a Maxtor 80GB firewire hardrive and a firewire magneto-optica by Fujitsu.

So I got a few question like is the hardrive less reliability then the removable storage?

If I buy the MO drive, will the data transfer rate slower then other CD-RW drive or the internal CD-ROM drive from the iMac?

I suggest 1.44Meg floppies.
The MO will be slow, but in the long term safe for backups. Hard drives will be much faster, especially if you just plan on backing up and then leaving the drive off untill the next backup. Still, I would just use the MO for long term safety. Especially if you plan on backing up nightly, the HD would wear out sooner.

That't the problem with todays giant hard drives. You can't just back up to CD-R or even DVD-R anymore.
