I've encountered a problem with MicroNet's SANCube that I thought people should be aware of. I purchased a 90GB one to use for storage, and set it up for RAID 1 (mirroring). It worked fine for a week or so, then started to have some weird problems that I thought at first were related to the FTP service its G3 was running. When it finally got so bad that a significant number of users couldn't store anything on it anymore, I determined that cause was the degradation of the mirrored disks. Express RAID was unable to repair the problem, and I had to separate the volumes and copy the data elsewhere. When I called MircoNet, I was told that this was a known issue -- that mirroring doesn't work! Only RAID 0 (striping) works, they said, and they don't recommend that I set up the Cube to do mirroring until they issue a software fix. The problem is, they don't know when a software fix is coming. So if anyone is looking a SANCube for RAID 1, be forewarned!
