I consider getting a FW 3.5' Harddisk, which should work with Mac and Win systems.

Now, I have heard about this Problem, that an DOS-formatted drive might become corrupt if run the most time under Mac OS, which might lead to complete data loss. Macfixit.com has posted an article about this and said the only solution would be to use the Apple filesystem.

What about this idea:

Get a bigger HD, patition it and format an exchange-only-partition in DOS, while the rest under Apple? This DOS-partition could be rather small compared to the rest...

What are your experiences with differend brands of HDs? I would like to use one of those white datafab cases (Combo USB2.0 and FW) and consider an Maxtor-drive.

Thanks

Felix
