I have a Yamaha CRW6416 burner which connects via SCSI-2 which is great except that I have run out of slots on the back of my G4. Every time I want to burn a CD I have to open up the machine and plug the cable into the side of my adaptec card.
A bit mickey mouse. Anyway, I was wondering if there was an adapter that would allow me to plug it into the firewire ports.
I'm probably pissing in the wind but ah well........
You lost me there, pardner. Yes, you can get a $90 adapter - works nicely. Are you saying you have no external SCSI connector or that you can't daisy-chain the burner? If you have SCSI why can't it simply stay plugged in?
I have an Ultra SCSI-2 card for my internal second hardrive. When I plug the burner into the external port it shags the drive - found out the hard way.
Fastware.net has a FW-to-SCSI converter that will support CD-RW via their own authoring app now and then a new extension will bring support to Toast, etc.... plus it can daisy chain multiple SCSI drives off the FireWire port.
