Hi,

I'm thinking about getting a HP print server for my HP 995c printer. And my question is does it really matter which I get? And will I be able to set it up with 10.1.x/9.x.x and use it with 10.1.x/9.x.x? Because on the product info pages I think it only mentions Windows for the print servers.

Thank you!

I am using an HP JetDirect 300X external print server to print to a HP 970Cse from an iMac and iBook over an Airport network, and a Beige G3 and a Compaq over a wired network. In OS 9 it all works perfectly. I can also print from the Compaq. The problem is that HP has still not written drivers for OS X. I have been sending e-mail requests to HP for the last 9 months for them to release drivers for OS X since it is the main reason that I have not switched full time to OS X. It is really fustrating that they have USB drivers but not network drivers. The Jetdirect does not allow checking the ink tank levels that is available from USB connections. I originally tried an AXIS (?) print server and was unsuccessful. The print server must be Appletalk savy to work, so HP's cheaper 170 JetDirect box will not work in OS 9. Theoretically, it should work in OS X if HP will write drivers. I hope this answers your questions.
