I've done a search here, and it's very confusing seeing as so much technology and offerings have changed the past few months and years.

My needs are very simple. I need a basic and inexpensive GPS unit that can preferably be loaded into my Powerbook every night before I go to bed.
I'd like to be able to upload my tracks to my PB, and maybe load more detailed maps if I know where I'm going to be the following day.
I am not going to get VPC-6 or whatever just to use this thing in this manner.

Is there anything out there yet that can accomplish this simple task?
Seems the manufacturers are more concerned with restaurant reviews and MP3 players than
creating a workflow for Mac users.

Bluetooth, USB, great, whatever. As long as I don't have to use a serial adapter.

As for software, I'd like to not have to spend more than the damn unit itself is going to cost.
Any updates out there????

Thanks!

I recently bought TomTom Navigator 6 for use with my cell phone. I then bought a Holux GPSlim 400 bluetooth receiver. Both work flawlessly and can work with your PowerBook.

On eBay your could get the same receiver + TTN 6 for less than $200. TTN 6 comes with maps of the US and Canada. You simply install the software and you can navigate this continent quite nicely.

On eBay, look for the seller 'gps4evyone.' He / she sells the app and the receiver as a set for a better price. (I'm in no way affiliated with this seller. I just had an outstanding experience with him / her.)

BTW, the Holux receiver I bought is tiny -- as in just over the size of a tube of lip balm. I read some reviews that stated this unit lost bluetooth connectivity but I have not yet had that experience. For my use it's been perfect thus far.
