After accidentally installing MacOSX on my iPod instead of the yet uninitialized harddisk in my Cube (don't ask what I did the night before...), I removed all folders and files I could see in the Finder.

There still seems something left though: both Show Info and iTunes indicate about 200Mb being used. What are these, and more importantly - how do I get rid of them?

Sorry for the double post (never use the back button after posting I guess...). Anyway, please close one of choice!

use a program that allows you to change the visibility flag for files and folders to make any hidden folders visible. once you've done that, delete them.

you could also restore the ipod to its factory state, but that would also delete any music you have already downloaded to it.

Thanks for your reply. As reloading the songs would only take a couple of minutes, restoring the factory state seems a good option.

Do I need a CD that came with the device for that? (I left the packaging at my work, so I cannot check on that).

you don't need the original CD that came with your ipod. you can download the latest version of the firmware and use that to restore your ipod.

Thanks a lot! Even though I feel kind of stupid not realizing the updater could be used for restore purposes as well, you made my day - my iPod is fresh & clean again! :-)
