My iPod seems to have sort of blemishes on the screen, which is really annoying. I was wondering if there is anyway of getting a new face for my iPod. I assume Apple must do this seeing as some people will be damaging their iPod's screen so badly it'll need replacement.

Are you talking about the screen itself? Or the casing. If the screen is damaged, I'm certain Apple would replace it for a fee or whatnot, but if you're just talking about the casing which goes over the screen, I don't see that happening. It's too cosmetic. That'd be like Apple replacing the case of your G4, or if you had a scratch on your Pro Mouse..

Isn't the casing and the screen all part of the same front anyway? There is the screen and then that sort of clear plastic over the whole front? But yes, it is that bit, the topmost surface of course above the screen.

it is just an inevitable part of life... i had mine for like 2 days and somehow a pig scratch apeared on the front....

if it really bothers you that much you can try to get some rubbing compound and buff it out but dont hold me responsible for any thing bad that happens

Yeah, if it's the plastic you might want to look at something like this. It's an abrasive which will essentially 'melt' a very tiny amount of the surface so you can smooth it out and buff in the material. Obviously you don't want to do it too much or you'll warp the top of the iPod, but if you do it once or twice and then get one of those nicer iPod Cases I imagine you'd be in good shape. Take away the scratches, then protect it.

I haven't done either of these things though...

someone mentioned using "Brasso" polish on the plastic surface for removing fine scratches. well, i had an old can of Brasso around, so i tried it. works great. use a soft cotton towel as an applicator gently apply to the surface. three applications and mine looked like new.

Hi,

I have had my iPod since early December. It looks brand new because I use this
http://www.thecontainerstore.com/bro...&CATID=193

I polish it about every other month and this product works great. Only word of advise is to not use it on the words like menu, the pause symbol etc, I have heard it will take the gold outline out of these. This is by far the best product for big or little scratches on the iPod. I wish I had stock in this product, it's that good.

There is no better subsitute then a good case, and some polish, how-ever, i don't have either for my ipod and well, let me tell you, that you really should. Mine has a hell of alot of scratches for a relatively new product, ah well maybe next time i will learn before i start using it...
