Looking for a new internal-HD to my iMac DV+, perhaps 30+ gigs.
The speed ain't the most important thing here, but the noise. I am looking for a HD that makes my ears relaxing, as my stock HD is to way-too-loud. The ear-splitting-whine is making me crazy.
Thanx!
Oh.. by the way. The prize doesn't matter. If I have to pay a few bucs extra for less noise, its ok.

Hi sniffer
I bought a Firewire HD 45gb just a fortnight ago and it behaves like a dream ie quietly. Extraordinarily quietly. It's a Clever Box from Indigita and cost me only £199 sterling - $289. Their website is athttp://www.indigita.com if you want to check out US possibilities.
It's real fast too.

IBM's 75GX series are very fast and fairly quiet.

Consider to buy a IBM Deskstar 75GXP 30GB 7200RPM Ide harddisk (Acoustics (idle) Bels: 3.0 ). Have anyone tried it? Was it good? How was the heat?
Apple supported?

I have numerous IBM Deskstar 75GXP drives. They have all been outstanding. One in a 7300 with a Sonnettech IDE card, at 60GB, a 6500 with a 45GB, a G3 Beige 266 with a 30GB, a 75GB in a B&W. They all have been fantastic and wonderful. They are all ofcoase mac compatible. I have had each drive for about a year now. Good luck!

Sounds great! Think I would go for the 75gxp then.
But one more; I know it shouldn't be a prob, but since I gonna use it in a no-fan-iMac I just have to ask: Is it cool?
Thanx!
