I have been using the iPod with the Sony Car Cassette Adapter for a few months now, and just yesterday my speakers in my car are popping anytime I try to play music through this set up.
It seems that it is only the two in the back not in the front. And the Radio/CD plays just fine.
Please help! Anyone know what is the problem is?? Or have a similar situatuion?

it sounds like some kind of electrical interference from the engine, is it a regular ticking type popping? or random? if its regular I think it could be the electrical system in the car ticking over. Car stereos have a filter built in to prevent any such interference so I would presume a device playing through the stereo would also be isolated. Can't explain why it's the back speakers though.
Might be checking where you're placing the iPod, is it near anything that could interfere with it directly?

Carpetfluff..thanks for the reply.
It is more random than constant. I have the iPod in a cell phone cradle (fits perfect, and I got it at office depot) that is attached to my vent in my 4Runner. The vent is located just above the radio/cd player.
As of yesterday I have noticed that it has subsided. So do you think it may be related to the location?
Thanks again,

How can you stand to be in a car with pooping speakers? The stench must be overpowering, let alone the noise?

Mine did that, but I just turned the iPod volume all the way up and the car volume down, and it went away.

It might be the tape deck, or tape to mini jack it self, I had a rather old Panasonic tape thingy and it sounded like crap, so I got a new CD deck with a line in, So I have a mini to mini, cord and it sounds crystal clear.

Ok, so I ditched my 1994 Camry with 105,000 miles on it and bought a BMW Z3 (it's a LITTLE different), but I didn't want to replace the nice CD player (which doesn't have a cassette line-in) with a unit like I had before which would allow an aux in.
So, I tried using a "Sound Feeder" radio modulator I bought at Fry's. The sound was HORRIBLE!! Does anyone have an idea of a better quality radio modulator or another way to hook it up?
Thanks!

I tried the irock fm modulator..same thing the sound is horrible. Plenty of static. I have been very pleased with the cassette adapter even though it is not the best looking way to hook your iPod up to the system.
