Well, sadly enough my trusty Palm IIIxe was stolen last week. Now I am in the market for a replacement PDA and I am finding the available PocketPCs very interesting in terms of functionality.

My question is whether it would be possible to run the PocketPC software under Virtual PC. I plan on getting a 802.11 CF card so that the PocketPC will exist on my airport network at home.

Not sure about VPC and your airport card, but check out www.pocketmac.net. They seem to be making some real progress.

BTW, I definitely would recommend a PPC over Palm. Why not get a real pocket computer to match your Mac. Check out both the iPaq and the Jornada 56X (my current favorite). The difference from a Palm is like night and day.

Good luck.

Well, I am happy to report that I received my HP Jornada 568 Pocket PC today and have successfully upgraded both the firmware as well as the Pocket PC 2002 ROM update via Virtual PC on my iBook 600.

Everything works perfectly under Virtual PC (Windows 2000 Pro). It recognized the Jornada when I plugged it into the USB cradle and everything. Pretty speedy, too!

I'll check out PocketMac again, but I may just stick with Virtual PC!
