I was looking at IBM's site for a replacement hard drive for my Powerbook 2400c because 1.3gb these days isn't to spacious. Anyway, I know the interface is IDE, but I have no idea the size. According to IBM there are several sizes. So what I did is went to apple's support site and checked under applespec and guess what? They don't include that. So I went to the manual, and what did I find? Nothing. The reason why I wanted to know this is because this is the worlds most difficult laptop to open. Cheers!

try calling Apple themselves. I find IBM's online store confusing and a pain in the rear to use.

you might try here in the mac product guide. here's the link to search: http://guide.apple.com/ussearch/schindex.html

my gut instinct tells me that you'll have a hard time finding something for a mac machine this old.

You could try opening the computer yourself and the drive might have a size written on it. You also may have to take the drive all the way out, however. Do this at your own risk. I know nothing about pre-G3 series powerbooks.

If I remember correctly, No. The screw-hole configuration for the 2400c drives were the old style. Goto http://www.xlr8yourmac.com they should have this info.

Well thanks, I went to xlr8yourmac.com and after searching for a while I found a page that said that hard drives no more than 12.7mm will work. And since the 2400c was designed by IBM, it will work with the new drive wholes! Yay. Now all I need is my 16bit PCMCIA bus upgraded to 32bit...

You may be in luck with the PCMCIA as well. If I remember correctly, some of the 2400c's came with a CardBus connection on the motherboard that could be attached to the two slots already in the machine. The problem I recall was the lack of drivers.
