I'm about to embark on OS X, but the 4 gb internal drive on my iMac is not partitioned, so I plan on getting another internal hard drive. I have seen lots of talk of FireWire drive enclosures that I could put my old 4gb drive in, but the Rev B iMac doesn't have firewire. Are there any USB enclosures that would allow me to install the 4gb hd inside and then be able to access the info on that drive if the OS X install goes bad?

Thanks.

Yes! I am in your exact situation (OS X running on a RevB. iMac).

MacAlly sells external USB hard drive cases that use ATA drives. They're $89 via their web site, but you can find them for $69 at Small Dog Electronics. They look like good cases - I'm getting one myself.
