Hello everyone:
I have a Yamaha 8424 External CD-RW and currently using Mac OS9.0.2. I have upgraded to OS 9.0.4 long ago and had performed a re-install that made the computer returned to OS 9.0.2. However, the burner cannot be detected afterwards and I cannot use it, even though with an additional installation of the Toast. My Toast version is 3.5.7, and could anyone give me any idea on what should I do? Please feel free to send me email if you have any idea on how to make it finction again?

Ok, first thing, update to OS 9.04 or 9.1.
Now, the 8424SX needs a special driver when using Toast 3.57, and its functionality is... iffy.
I STRONGLY suggest you get Toast 4 Deluxe. Apparently Toast 5 Titanium is coming out... but 4 is good.
Its well worth the money.
What kind of SCSI card do you have? When you reinstalled the OS, did you reinstall your SCSI cards software?
What kind of computer do you have? I'm assuming G3/G4 tower. But it could be any tower really... or hell any OWR machine...
Make sure the SCSI ID on the burner is not conflicting with anything else (set it to ID 5 if you're on a machine with only it and the HD/CD on the SCSI chain).
Also make sure, if your SCSI card has more than one port, that the other port is terminated.
I was gonna make another suggestion which I can't remember at the moment... damn, thats happening a lot lately. Report back, and we'll see what we can do.

I read at http://www.roxio.com/en/products/toa...ANPXJ4YZOUCFEQ
(maker of toast 4 deluxe) that if you buy toast 4 deluxe from now on you will b able to upgrade for a "minimal price"

You also want to make sure you have the latest firmware installed.

Hello:

The missing details:
SCSI Card: Adaptec 2906, though I may have lost the driver when I have re-installed the OS.
I am currently using G4-400 tower with AGP graphic.
I have no idea what kind of firmware I have now, please tell me where to check.
Can anyone tell me whether I can download the driver again?

Besides, if the SCSI Card's driver is still here? What can I do in this case?
