Hi everyone--

I have a 19" Radius L1 monitor which I have been very happy with. Had it for about 1 1/2 years now. I've found it to have a good cost/quality ratio.

However, every once in a while (perhaps every 40 minutes on avg) I hear a quick, short zap/crack sound -- in that instant the monitor's view image shrinks, wiggles, and then comes back to normal.

It's like it has an electrical twitch or something. Anyone else familiar with this issue and what it might mean? It's slightly disconcerting... half expecting it to explode in my face one of these days....

It sounds as if the monitor is degaussing itself. The electron beams from the back of the cathode ray tube are focussed by magnets. From time to time, these get out of whack. "Degaussing" will clear the monitor of built-up magnetic fields causing the misconvergence problem. I'm not sure why the monitor is doing that on its own... I was always under the impression this was something the monitor did when it was first started up, or when the user chose to Degauss. Of course, it may not be this at all. Hope this helps.

Cheers!
Chris
