I help setting the select 360 on a dual platform network. Actually as of now I can't even get the printer to print from a single machine. I have heard that this printer is tricky to use, but I would line to use it because it is easier on the medium than the stylewriter we have hooked to the network now. Thanks

If you want help, people need to know:

What:

computers and models
operating systems
how you're networked now

By the way, I'm using a LWS 360 successfully, shared between 3 Macs - two that are
networked and one that is not.

I have one successfully networked for dual platform via an iSonic localtalk->ethernet bridge. It shows up on the PC network when using DAVE printsharing on a Mac. Depending on your setup, you could simply use the bridge and install the PC-MacLan(or latest incarnation) to allow the PCs to directly access the Apple printer rather than relying on another Mac running DAVE.

If you have more macs and only one or two PCs, I'd go with installing PC-MacLan on the PCs, but if you have more PCs and a mac, use the mac as the printshare using one license of DAVE.

Sharing this printer can be done, its just a bit tricky because it only has a localtalk network connection.

Oh, one last solution, if you have only on PC to connect to the printer. Locate the printer next to the PC and use a parallel cable to directly connect to the printer and the localtalk connection for all your apple users. I did this before using DAVE to allow network access from both platforms. The printer will recognize input from the parallel or localtalk interface and handle the jobs without a hitch. This would be the least expensive method if you only have one PC to hook up.

Good luck. Vive la Macintosh!
