When trying to convert LP records to MP3 files with SoundJam in a Powerbook 2000, I get only one channel. The other is silent.
The Sound control panel shows both channels set the same. Headphones plugged into the receiver, a CD player, and a cassette deck all give me two channels. Conversion from any of these are recorded with the left channel missing.
I cut off an Appletalk mike and replaced it with a standard size headphone jack. So I have a connecting cable with a standard Apple plug for the computer and a plug for audio headphone jack on the other end. All three wires show good continuity with a tester.
I followed all the instructions in the Mac help screens and in the SoundJam manual. My CD conversions work correctly and have have both channels. As said before, conversion from external equipment have one channel missing. Does anyone that's been converting LP records know whether I'm doing something wrong? Is there a way to test the sound in on my Powerbook? Sound out is fine.
Help will be much appreciated.
