The Audiophile 2496 appears to be the solution for Sorround Sound on the mac, I think I will buy this card if it can do 5.1 and gets good comments... I have given up on soundblaster btw

So this thread is for anyone with an Audiophile 2496, or with experience, or who knows alot about it, or who is interested in a good sound solution for the mac, to comment on it.

Nice but rather pricy, I will just use my PS2 and these Speakers to get 5.1. There is no software for the mac that uses 5.1 so whats the point.

I GOT WASTED WITH PHIL SHERRY!!!

pricy? i think for what the card offers - midi in/out, spdif digital in/out, and analog in/out - it's a great deal. perhaps if you only use *one* of the cards features then it looks expensive......

Can you hook up a pair of powered speakers to this card?

Those speakers look pretty good G4ME.

I think I am now considering those w/ audiophile 2496, or alter lansing (the highest model they have, the 400 Wat 4.1 setup) with some card I have yet to find, maybe the audiophile 2496... who knows.

When you shopped for those, G4ME, would you say those were amoung the best you could get in that price range?
