Can you connect a cell phone to a laptop modem and dial your ISP? I would assume you would need some sort of connector from the phone serial connector to a standard phone line.

If this is not possible, can you connect a cell phone to a laptop and use a modem built into the phone to connect to the internet? This would also need an adapter, but I know it can be done with PDAs, so I would think it could be done with laptops too.

The cell phone would need to connect to a new iBook. If you cannot use the iBook modem, then I would have to get a new cell phone with a modem in it (assuming that method will work). Any suggestions on phones that work well?

Do you have any experience with this device? It looks to be like what I'm looking for, but the company is German so I don't know what the US availability would be. I haven't recieved a reply to my e-mail yet.

I also saw something about this recently in regards to Sprint PCS phones and the wireless web option. I beleve that they have released software that allows you to use their internal modem inside their phones with macs. As for hardware compatibility, I think you may have to use a keyspan USB-serial adapter. again, I've never used this, but am about to enter into the same situation you are in. I would like to see more people respond about this topic. I plan on buying a new iBook in the near future and also getting a new digital phone also. I'm also wondering if using the phone this way somehow charges at a different rate, under the "wireless web" pricing scheme. Man, this is sooo complicated....
