Firewire 800 HD Problems

I just bought two external hard drives with Firewire 800/400/USB enclosures, one a 750 GB and the other a 500 GB hard drive. When I plug in one hard drive with Firewire 800 it works. When I plug in the second one, daisy chaining it, it doesn't work. In fact the other one disconnects too. The Firewire 800 port doesn't work and at and I have to restart the computer. The USB works fine. Why is this happening and how can I fix it? Is it the hard drive's fault, the enclosure, or the computer?

Help!

Sounds like an enclosure problem, but first, are both the drives getting AC power? You might get into trouble in some cases if you daisy chain drives without powering one of them. Depends on the enclosure.

They're both getting AC power separately. This is the enclosures I bought.

Okay so this is what happened so far.

I send the two enclosures back to Newegg and got two brand new ones. It took a long time. Same problem. Both hard drives won't work at the same time with firewire although USB works.

Then I found this thread which basically says that cheap enclosures use static GUID numbers. I checked the enclosures and they are using the same GUID numbers. So I'm basically stuck with using one HD with firewire and the other with USB. I don't have anymore time to deal with this problem by returning it anymore. =[ This is horrible.
