I've just bought a Formac 16x CD-RW, but i cannot for the life of me get my iMac to recognise that it's there. Here's the state of play:

I'm running OS 9.1, with firewire 2.7 installed.
I'm using Toast 5.0.1 which came on the cd with it, and two extensions with toast are installed too [cd reader and toast firewire]

When i put a music cd in the drive, nothing shows up on my desktop.

If anyone can help me it would be very much apprecated !

My machine is : iMac 400Mhz w/256Mb RAM

Go into Extension Manager and disable:
Authoring Support
Disc Burner Extension
Firewire Authoring Support
USB Authoring Support

This fixes it most of the time.

Try putting the extensions onto Mac OS 9.1 Base, duplicate the set and turn on Toast Firewire Support.

Also...disconnect drive, turn off power to the drive, turn it back, wait 10 seconds, the reconnect. See if it shows up then. (try this step first actually).

Let me know if this works

I'm sorry, neither of those two ideas worked
