Until I find a good case, I left the original plastic on the iPod and cut out an opening for the dial and connections end. It may sound crazy but it would make me feel sick if I scratched it so soon.
I seemed to be accident prone when it comes to small electronics. I've bounced my minidisc off the pavement enough times to make me cautious. (or anal)

Yes, I have an iPaq but it's running Linux! *smile*
Is that allowed? I have a problem worse than just how to store my iPod, it's where do I put all my stuff now? Digital Camera, iPod, iPaq, Pismo, Cell Phone...Terrible Problem, huh? I just use a back pack that I can lug all my shite with me.
Oh well, have fun...

I have the caselogic case that i had been using for my old mp3 player. It fits the iPod well. The only problem is when it is in there you can't really operate it well.(can't spin the wheel) But it is a good solution just to carry it or for protection.

Just got off the phone with Brenthaven people. I don't know how reliable their customer service people are, but the word is that they were considering making an ipod case but the idea was nixed.
Someone please tell me if this is wrong! Thanks.

Heh, that's just a mock-up. Hopefully the real pouch will look better. They took an image off the Apple site and quickly patched together a mock-up of the pouch, scanned it in, most likely.
The black makes the iPod look more like a speaker with an exposed speaker cone.

My wife bought a small drawstring cloth bag at a rennaissance festival
and is storing hers inside it. The cloth is soft on the inside and
sort of rough and heavy on the outside, but she can still put this
in her pocket and use the iPod while keeping it safe from various
perils.
Mine is in my shirt pocket at work here, I'm going to come up with
something although the wife says she can make a bag like the one
she has with her sewing kit.

Re green screen, it depends on the angle of view; and if it's on, it isn't green.

Good news: I was just scrounging around in my dead tech drawer and found that the Iomega Hip Zip case works great with the ipod - just cut the plastic window out - access to all controls, not a great view of the window, but just put the sucker on shuffle and shuffle on.

If you're a fan of the Waterfield SleeveCases for the laptops, then you'll be happy to know that Waterfield is going to introduce an iPod sleeve "shortly". At least that's what Gary said when I emailed him to ask about the possibility. I have a couple of Waterfield bags and they're excellent, very solid and good materials like ballistic nylon, but with some design flair, too. If you don't like the leather sleeve from JRHill then you should definitely wait to see what Waterfield comes up with.

I keep mine in a Ziploc sandwich bag, and keep it zipped tight for freshness. Best thing is, the bag is roomy enough for the iPod and a carrot or a couple of Oreo cookies in case I get hungry.
Really, I just keep it in an otherwise empty pocket. The only thing I am concerned about is scratches over the screen area that may cause visibility problems if they build up. I will probably put some sort of adhesive film over the screen to prevent scratches.
toodles...

Re. my iPod - I put a sock in it --- I mean I put it in a sock.
Got the idea from an iceBook owner who made a sleeve from a sweatpants leg. Used a regular crew sock (not tube sock or panty hose pleze), cut the top off the foot. Made it longer than iPod so there is almost an inch of sock to grab when I pull the iPod out of my front jeans pocket. Sewed up the bottom to keep the iPod from falling out (haha). It fits quite snug, can't move the dial through the material but you can push the buttons. Doesn't hold in heat like leather or neoprene would.
Not elegant looking, but it is functional. Exteremely low tech answer for high tech device - reduces likelihood that it will be ID'd and stolen. Also sliding in/out cleans fingerprints off chrome! Plan to buy some colored/patterned socks for my mood swings - one of each for me, give others to needy friends.
Also switched to Sony earbuds - slightly smaller and have a volume slider on cord!

When I have a shirt with a pocket, it's in there.
When I have to carry it in a pants pocket, I use a cheapo vinyl/cloth case that I stole from my Casio pocket calculator from many years ago.
I'm eagerly looking forward to buying a case designed specifically for iPod. But I'm primarily seeking protection for the iPod when it's in transit rather than a case to show it off while it operates. Believe me, every chance I get to set it on my desk, on a table during a meeting, or otherwise expose it to others in a safe environment it's not going to be in a case of any sort.

i just spent $2.50 for a yard of clear plastic vinyl to cover the front of my ipod. The hardest part is to die-cut the scroll wheel, and i did not do a perfect job. I will post a picture soon.

i don't know if you can see it, but i covered my ipod with a clear plastic vinyl that will stick. As you can see i did not do too well in the scroll wheel area, i guess i will try again because i got a yard of vinyl. I don't know if i should covered the back too, because sometimes it gets really warm.
