I'm having a bizarre issue with our EyeTV Hybrid. If it is plugged into the MacBook Pro 15", then the machine will not go to sleep, whether the software is running or not. Unplug the EyeTV, and everything works fine. Plug it in and the machine will not sleep. It goes into the cycle and the second it finishes going to sleep, the optical drive whirrs and the mac wakes back up-15 seconds max. The software does not start up either. If the softwate is running, the problem also exists. I had Jiggler running for a while, but removed it. That does not appear to have helped.
Any ideas?

Unplug it when you want to sleep it?
It's always been a possible problem that USB devices and PCI devices can cause sleep issues, it's nothing new.

I am having this same problem. I just got a Belkin TuneSync (iPod dock / usb hub) and I have my Hybrid plugged into it. This seems to be the cause of the immediate-wake-up, because the computer sleeps fine when I have the EyeTV plugged in directly to my iMac.
I am filing a bug report with elgato. Are you using a USB hub of some sort bdougal? You should file a report on support.elgato.com too, they have been very helpful to me in the past.

That's a bummer, but thanks for sharing.
Maybe they will come up with a solution...

Got a reply from elgato:
Thank you for contacting Elgato Systems.
If you connect EyeTV Hybrid to an USB 2.0 hub, and then put your Mac to sleep, the particular power-down cycle can confuse the Mac, causing it to wake back up.
This should not happen if EyeTV Hybrid is directly connected to an USB 2.0 port on your Mac.
We are working with Apple to find an appropriate solution for this problem, so that OS X will not become confused about the state of EyeTV Hybrid on the USB 2.0 bus.
This free application can sleep/wake EyeTV and your Mac.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.
I haven't had the opportunity to check out this alarm clock app to see if it makes a difference, I will post back if I have good results with it.
