Greetings all!
I have been directed to look into a Sony Spressa CRX145e/xi FireWire CD-RW to share between my G4 and a Sony peecee.
I have:
G4/350 | 320MB RAM | 9.0.4 | FireWire2.5
Three questions:
1) What are the compatibility issues with the CRX145e/xi and the G4 (does it even work?)
2) What is with the unsubstantiated rumors I've heard that NO FireWire CD-RW can burn past 4x speed? (Something about unsupported packet writing in the IEEE 1394 standards... what?)
3) Which package works best, the included Discribe or Toast?
I've been reading the QPS QueDrive thread avidly and they have their problems and successes. What about the Sony drive? At this point, if I had my druthers, I'd just get an internal IDE Yamaha 8x/8x/24x mechanism and be done with it! But that's not in the cards. sigh.
