I was in Best Buy the other day to check out monitors and was surprised by a 19" model from KDS. I had never heard of this company, but the picture was much nicer than the Viewsonic I was considering (PF790). It was awefully close to the expensive Sony (the best picture there).

Has anyone had any experience with this company and/or using their monitors on macs? The model I saw was an AV-195TF (part of their avitron series-their higher end series). Their website says it "employs FD Trinitron technology." Does this mean it uses a Sony tube?

Again, I was shocked by the great picture on this display, but I'm hesitant because I know nothing of the company.

KDS is the OEM for many major brands (Princeton Graphics, for one. Mag [at one time] for another.) Also, many "house brand" monitors are KDS.

I have an AV-7T (17" Trinitron...got it from Buy.com for $215, delivered!). I love it. It has a 3-year warranty & 48-hour advance replacement.

We've sold a number of these to clients. More specifically, the 19" short neck one (VS-19, I think).

They have worked very well indeed. They did have some QA problems in the fall, but KDS gives no-hassle returns on their monitors. One client ended up with a better monitor than the one they bought!

I'd certainly recommend them.

Im in the same boat as rednoise. I also have a AV-7T monitor. I get nothing but compliments on how nice it looks. I've had it for, i believe, nearly a year now and it is solid as a rock.

I give this a great buy.
