Hey guys, i just got my cdrw firewire drive from apple. i am able to burn audio cd's in itunes however i can't burn data cd's. My friend but a cdrw burner (usb) over the summer and toast came with it. i put toast on my computer and it says that it can't find a burner attached to my computer. I updated the program to 4.1.2 but that doesn't seem to matter. if you know of any other updates i need to do please tell me. or is there way i can burn files onto a disk without toast?

also... when i have a blank cd in the burner, no icon shows up on the desktop until after i burn it... is this normal?

what you need to do is disable the authoring support extensions that itunes requires to burn CDs. once you have done this you will only be able to burn CDs with toast, provided that you have installed the toast extensions. you might consider making two sets of extensions in the extensions manager, one with the itunes extensions enabled and another with the toast extensions enabled, as this would make switching between configurations convenient.
