In following some of the threads in the forums I have seen many comments about burning audio CDs at 2x or even 1x for the best fidelity. Others write about burning at 12x.
Can it be that the quality is the same? If not, is there any rationale for buying a really fast burner if one is going to burn at 2x?
Also, Yamaha is reported to have announced a new 12/10/32 drive; however, it is not on their home site yet. Does anyone know about this?

Correction- the new Yamaha drive is now on their website. it is a
16/10/40!

I don't really notice much of a difference in sound quality, however, I do get a lot more failed discs and errors burning audio that fast. 2x always works for me and 4x does most of the time
