I am intersted in what everyone elses HD Capacity on the iPod is. Mine says 4.6, Where did my .4 go? I am starting to run out of room and could really use that 400 megs.

I noticed that the firewire drive does have three files on it. iTunes installer for 9 and X and a readme type file. That definitly isnt 400 megs worth, maybe 10 megs.

Any idea?

Formatting, although it probably shouldn't be that much. As I understand it, the iPod Updater was supposed to do something, but it got yanked. I guess We'll have to wait for a new one... *shrug*

Apple is probably using a standard marketing ploy with the iPod. You know, a 10 GB drive is listed as 10 GB because it contains 10 billion bytes?

So, the iPod could actually contain 5 GB, but 5 GB to a computer is 5 bytes * 1024 * 1024 * 1024 or 5,368,709,120 bytes.

The iPod is probably more accurately described as a 4.7 GB drive, since it probably contains around 4,800 MB.

I wouldn't know though, because I don't own one. It'd be nice to get some confirmation on this, though.
